A Survivor's Request

I'm a survivor of domestic abuse.

And believe me, that is almost as hard to type in black & white as it is to say out loud, or even whisper in the corners of my own battered heart.
I know first hand the fear, oppression, humiliation, and pain that thousands of people go through everyday.  I understand that abuse doesn't always manifest itself in black eyes and broken bones.  I've been spat on, publicly humiliated, and minutely controlled.  Yet I am lucky enough to have come out the other side - but for so many women, children, teens and yes even men, my past is a seemingly endless present.

There is another side to life, and if you're suffering any kind of abuse (and if reading this puts a nervous knot in your stomach, you probably are) I want you to know there is hope, help, and a world out there ready to receive you.
